Another great episode guys. About the whole Dreamworks allegedly copying Pixar thing… again
I was always laboring under the impression that the plot for Pixar’s Dinosaur movie, was something to do with the Asteroid not killing off the Dinosaurs. So ultimately, it’d be based on Dinosaurs living alongside humans or something of the sort. Ultimately I’m sure that the plots are different enough, to have completely different results. Though of course, Caveman and Dinosaur do give off a somewhat similar prehistoric vibe.
Just a side note. I’m not too sure about the timing of this, but I was also thinking at the time that I had read the plot for ‘Newt’ that it sounded quite similar to ‘Rio’ Of course, I’m not saying that’s why it got canceled. Though I’d speculate that perhaps Pixar just wanted to avoid another ‘Antz’ & ‘A Bug’s life’ comparison. Could of course be wrong.
Haha it seems Lee has a tendency, to let some unwanted information slip at times. I think it was on the Toy Story 1 or 2 commentary where Lee mentioned something he wasn’t supposed to about about the Film ‘Gnomeo & Juliet’ A film in which John Lasseter pulled out of the project, due to certain similarities with Toy Story.
As for the 3D I’m sure I read somewhere, quite a while ago, that Brad Bird was certainly fine with the whole Ratatouille 3D conversion. So it might be a mix of opinions with each particular movie being converted. Whether or not it has 3D appeal. Though I’m sure it’s Disney pushing for all the 3D conversion. Not to mention Pixar’s now making up to 2 films a year, no doubt some Disney influence there.
Kung Fu Panda is awesome and I loved both movies. 7-8 Kung Fu Panda sequels… I dunno.
They are doing the 3D thing for two things maybe three, capitalice on all films, avoid piracy at all cost, and maybe finding new ways to improve the technology, they definitely want to find a way to watch 3d without the glasses, so we can see the images while a cell fone or a consumer camera can’t put the image together.
I will be interested to see a 3D movie without the glasses. Presumably that would also solve the other problem I have with 3D–the darkening of the image that the glasses do.
Some companies like Sony are already applying it to televisions and such, I think eventually they will try to do it with big movie screens, wich, once done, it will be so natural, because our eyes work in that way to generate the images.
I think it will be a big win for the industry, so they drop the glasses and all this using the 3d effects as a gimmick “hit you in the face” thing wich everyone hates, and just watch a movie and have a cool effect of reality, like if you are in real life with the actors, in the scene, that would be so cool!
